    Mantak Chia

Mantak Chia is a Daoist (Taoist) Master. The focus of his teaching is on developing human life energy — qi — for self-healing and life transformation. en.wikipedia.org

He was born in Bangkok, Thailand to Chinese Christian parents in 1944. At the age of six he would play in various Buddhist temples in his neighborhood. There he would see the monks meditating and that intrigued him. The monks took an interest in the inquisitive child and taught him how to sit and still the mind. He began to see colors, see things, and feel things—but he was still not aware of sensing any qi-energy. In grammar school he studied Thai boxing ("The Art of Eight Limbs). Later he was introduced to Aikido, Yoga, and broader levels of taijiquan.

As a teenaged student in Hong Kong (where he was living to avoid the dangers of the Vietnam War) he was introduced to his most important teacher of Daoist mysteries, Master Yi Eng (d.1967), who is known in English as White Cloud (or One Cloud) Hermit. Mantak Chia studied esoteric Daoist inner-energetics with him for about two or three times a week for next five years. These instructions become the foundation of his subsequent teachings and practice. www.mantakchia.com/immortal-inner-alchemy-teachings-master-mantak-chia

In 1979 Mantak Chia in New York City founded the Taoist Esoteric Yoga Center, now known as the Universal Healing Tao®. Throughout the world he has taught tens of thousands of students and trained and certified over 6,000 instructors and practitioners. Each year he makes worldwide tours to promote his Healing Tao practices.” That information and much more is at: About Grandmaster Mantak Chia

Returning to Thailand in 1994, he created the Universal Tao Training Center—Tao Garden. See Tao Garden Health Spa & Resort Center. www.mantakchia.com

Mantak Chia was named Qigong Master in 2012 by the 14th World Congress of Qigong and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). The Watkins Review (the oldest esoteric bookshop in the UK) in their "100 Most Spiritually Influential Living people 2012" listed him as 18th.

He has written more than 60 books on Daoist practices. His books have been translated into more than 40 languages. en.wikipedia.org
